Who we are

ISDIC — the Industry Skill Development & Innovation Cell — runs campus-embedded skill development centres and community chapters in India. This website is operated by ISDIC. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean ISDIC.

What we collect, and when

We collect personal data only when you give it to us — by submitting one of the forms below, or by creating an account on ISDIC Hiring. Browsing the site does not collect anything about you.

Partner With ISDIC form (/partner)

• Your full name and designation
• Your organisation’s name, type and city
• Your work email address and mobile number
• The areas you are interested in, and anything you write in the requirement box
• Your explicit consent to be contacted (the form cannot be sent without it)

Campus hiring requirement form (/campus-hiring)

• Your name and designation
• Your company’s name, and the campuses or cities you want to hire from
• Your work email address and mobile number
• The hiring details you give: full-time or interns, the role, the number of positions, the joining date, the problem you want solved and the skills to be tested
• Your explicit consent to be contacted (the form cannot be sent without it)

It is stored and handled as a partnership request, so everything this policy says about partnership requests applies to it too.

Join a chapter form (on each chapter page)

• Your full name
• Your email address and mobile number
• Your profession
• Which chapter you are registering for
• Whether you want emails about that chapter’s events — unticked unless you tick it, and every such email has a one-click unsubscribe link

Event registration form (on each event page)

• Your full name
• Your email address and mobile number
• Your profession
• Which event you are registering for

The forms also contain a hidden field that human visitors never see or fill in. It exists to catch automated spam and stores nothing about you. To prevent abuse, each submission also records a short-lived technical identifier — a one-way cryptographic hash derived from your connection, never your address itself — which is deleted within 24 hours and used only to slow down automated flooding.

Why we collect it

• Partnership requests — to understand what your institution or organisation is looking for and to reply to you about it. Nothing else.
• Chapter registrations — to register you as a member of that chapter and to tell you about its sessions and events. Nothing else.
• Event registrations — to hold your seat, send your confirmation and a reminder before the event, and let you cancel from the link in that email. Nothing else.

We do not sell personal data or share it with advertisers, and we do not send marketing unrelated to the thing you asked about. The only place we share personal data with anyone outside ISDIC is ISDIC Hiring, and only in the way described below.

ISDIC Hiring

ISDIC Hiring connects students with companies through practical activities. Companies tell us what they are looking for; students take part; ISDIC evaluates the work and gives a ranked shortlist to the company that ran the activity. It needs an account, so it collects more than the forms do, and some of it is shared — which is why it has its own section.

If you are a student

• Your account: name and email address. Your password is held by our sign-in provider, never by ISDIC.
• Your profile: phone number, city, state and country, college, course, graduation year and primary domain; a headline and bio; your experience level, skills, tools and languages; your education, experience, certifications and links; what you are looking for (the kinds of role, work mode, locations, relocation, when you can start and, if you give it, your expected stipend or pay); your four “why you stand out” answers; your resume, if you upload one; and your photo, if you upload one.
• Your participation: the activities you register for, what you submit, the scores and comments ISDIC’s evaluators give it, your rank, whether you were shortlisted, and any hiring outcome a company records.
• Your consent: the exact statement you agreed to, its version, and when.

What a company sees, and when. A company sees nothing about you unless you registered for that company’s activity and ISDIC put you on the shortlist it delivered. On a shortlist it sees your rank and score, the work that earned them, and your profile — name, headline, bio, city, college, course, graduation year, domain, experience level, skills, tools, languages, education, experience, certifications, links, what you are looking for and your “why you stand out” answers — but not your email, phone number, LinkedIn or resume. Those are released only if the company asks for them and ISDIC approves the request, and only while your consent is in place. Every time a company views them, we record who viewed them and when. Your photo is never shown to a company: only you and the ISDIC team see it.

Withdrawing consent. You can withdraw your data-sharing consent at any time from your profile, and give it again later. Once withdrawn, no further contact details are released to any company — including companies whose requests were already approved — and you cannot register for new activities. We cannot recall details a company has already received.

If you represent a company

We collect your name and work email; your company’s names, website, contact email and phone, industry, size, headquarters, description, logo, LinkedIn page and the details you give us to verify it; the requirements and activities you create; the contact requests you make and every contact-detail view; and, for billing, a billing email, address and tax identifier. Download company data on your company profile gives you a copy of all of it.

Who else processes it

Supabase handles sign-in: your email address, your password (stored hashed) and your session, and nothing else. Profiles, submissions and everything else are stored in the same database as the rest of the site (below). Resumes, photos and submitted files are stored with Vercel Blob and are only ever served to a signed-in person who is allowed to see them. Account and notification emails are sent through Resend. These providers store data outside India.

The basis for processing

You give the data to us voluntarily, for a purpose you can see on the form, and the partner form asks for your explicit consent to be contacted before it can be submitted. India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 is the law we work to; where it applies, consent and the purpose you were told about are the basis on which we process your data.

Where it is stored

Submissions are written to a database hosted by Neon (PostgreSQL) in the AWS Singapore region — the closest available region to India — and the website itself runs on Vercel. Both providers process the data on our behalf as hosting infrastructure; neither uses it for its own purposes. This means the data leaves India for storage. Access to the database is restricted to the ISDIC team.

Like almost every website host, Vercel keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP addresses and request times) for security and to keep the service running. We do not use those logs to identify visitors.

Cookies and tracking

This site runs no analytics and no third-party trackers, and browsing it sets no cookies.

Signing in is different. If you sign in to ISDIC Hiring, we set session cookies that keep you signed in; they are strictly necessary for the account to work, contain no advertising or tracking identifiers, and end when you sign out or they expire. There is no consent banner because there is nothing optional to consent to. If that ever changes, this page will change with it.

How long we keep it

Partnership requests are kept while the enquiry is being handled and for as long as an active partnership conversation continues. Chapter registrations are kept while you are a member of that chapter. ISDIC Hiring accounts, profiles, resumes and submissions are kept while your account is in use; we have not yet set a fixed period after which an unused account is deleted, and until we do, we delete one when you ask. We review stored records periodically and delete those that are no longer needed for the purpose they were given for.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us, at any time, to:

• tell you what personal data we hold about you;
• correct it;
• delete it, or withdraw your registration or consent;
• stop contacting you.

If you have a student account on ISDIC Hiring, you do not need to ask for the first of these: Download my data on your profile gives you a copy of everything we hold about you, and you can withdraw your data-sharing consent from the same page. You can also ask for your account to be deleted there; your consent is withdrawn the moment you ask, so nothing more is shared with any company while we carry out the deletion.

Withdrawing does not affect anything done before you withdrew. Deleting a chapter registration means the chapter can no longer tell you about its sessions.

How to reach us

Email contact@isdic.in for privacy requests — say what you need and which email address you used on the site. It reaches the same team that runs the forms. You can also use the Partner With ISDIC form with “Privacy request” in the requirement box, and chapter members can speak to their chapter lead.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the effective date at the top changes with it. Material changes to what we collect or why will be stated plainly here, not buried.
